SPJ Cookout
(aka, free hot dogs)

SPJ will host a cookout behind Fell Hall very soon for interested members and anyone who just wants to drop by for more information. Feel free to bring any friends interested in journalism, and we hope to see you there. Keep checking back for a specific date.

Welcome back to campus

The school year is about to begin, and ISU's chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is already planning a productive year. Anyone interested in journalism can join, and membership in SPJ can help jumpstart your career in the media and give you journalism experiences you can't find in the classroom. SPJ champions the causes of ethical journalism, freedom of information and diversity in the newsroom and works with media organizations on those values.

To do this, we arrange for speakers to share their knowlege, help students find real-world journalism experiences and work to make sure information is available for the local media. We have an occasional cookout, too. Last year, SPJ brought U.S. Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert to campus to talk about his experiences with the media, and AOL News Director Gary Kebbel showed us how the Internet is starting to make it's presence known in the media community.

To join, contact us and we'll get you set up. Or just download this form.
